But as we see it, this is only a way of sugarcoating the real purpose of these fake profiles. In fact, they are used to luring users into long chat conversations, to increase the operator’s profits.

Real-life dates are impossible

But as the fake profiles are not marked as such, users obviously assume there are real people behind each profile.
