The portal contains fake profiles which are managed by company employees. Their purpose is to make you sign up for a premium membership, which renews automatically, and is impossible to cancel. On the homepage, we read that this is the best place to find someone to start a new, successful love story with. The simple and clean design gives SecretCupid.com a reassuring look.

The registration module invites all visitors to sign up for free. Costs and subscriptions are not mentioned. At first sight, it seems that you do not have to pay anything to enjoy the experience. Unfortunately, this is just misleading advertising. The free basic membership, only allows you to create a profile and browse the member’s area.

A blatant trap

To communicate with other people, users must purchase a premium membership, which renews automatically. Among the different options, the 1-day trial seems to be the most convenient. However, if this is not cancelled in time by the user, it will be converted into a monthly subscription.

This is a rip-off because you do not have sufficient time to stop the renewal. The notice period required is 72 hours, which is more than the whole duration of the contract. At the exact same moment that you authorize the payment, the scam is already sealed. The same thing happens with the 3-day trial.
