Apart from that, we were introduced to some of the website’s features, like the high probability that someone will chat us up.

As we entered the members’ area, we learned that the site does keep its promise that we would be contacted by someone on the site. However, our profile lacked any user information, and yet there were still several users contacting us within minutes after we entered the platform. This was clearly an indication of a fake chat. To communicate with each other, PhiliTalks.com uses an expensive messaging system. All in all, it can be concluded that this website clearly is a scam.

Fake chat service

Even though we found no evidence of a fake chat service in the Terms of Use, PhiliTalks.com clearly uses a fake chat service. We were contacted by several users shortly after we joined the platform. Additionally, nearly every profile we contacted first replied to us within minutes. All of them seemed very interested in us and wanted to continue the conversation. Given the fact that our profile lacked any user information, this kind of interest in us was unrealistic and an indication that the use of a fake chat service is present.

The use of fake chat services means that users will not be chatting with another genuine user but with either a chatbot or one of the company’s contractors. A physical meeting is therefore unrealistic, if not impossible.
