The OurSecretPassion.com landing page initially looks like a standard dating website with fantasy profiles. However, we remember we have already seen similar pages in our previous reviews. The name is the only thing that has changed. Scrolling down we notice photos of people we can only guess are some of the platform’s members. Since the landing page looks exactly like others we have previously reviewed, we decided to dig deeper and verify if this too was in fact a scam.
The Terms and Conditions page explains how some profiles are fake. Because of this, it will be impossible to have an actual date with them. We went a bit further into our investigation and decided to register. The registration is free. However, once we access the actual website, we immediately start receiving several messages, all very similar to each other. This is one more signal that behind the platform lies a potential scam.
We try to interact with different profiles, but that turns out to be impossible since we are requested to pay for each message we want to send. We must pay with what the website refers to as “credits”. On top of that, none of the profiles we tried chatting with was real. This is how the website rips-off new users. They ask them to pay to chat with people who they think they could potentially meet in real life. This is not going to happen. This is what we call a scam.
Excerpt from the terms and conditions
3.1. oursecretpassion.com has the goal of allowing users to flirt. oursecretpassion.com is the platform for users to chat with fictive profiles. The website, service and content are being provided for entertainment purposes only and are not intended to be used for establishing meetings with other users.
These fake profiles are marked with a small heart icon. This is confusing since there are several heart icons with different sizes and meanings. The website fails to explain this in a clear way so that the user falls into the trap. It is good that the site alerts users about the existence of these fake profiles, but it does so by using such a small text size, it easily goes unnoticed.
Here is the excerpt
Profiles marked with a heart icon are fictive profiles with which physical contact is not possible.
If that is not enough, we also find several reviews by former members about their experiences. They are all negative. The site is run by the Midsummer Online BV company, headquartered in the Netherlands. They are famous for running numerous online dating websites, all containing fake profiles.
