The design on the landing page and the modern preview of member profiles make a great first impression. The clear invitation to register and the whole atmosphere of the site does not suggest that the online dating portal i-HookedUp.com is a big rip-off with moderated chats and fake profiles. The so-called “system profiles” are fictitious and operated by employees of the company behind the scam. The goal is to lure the members into pricey conversations. Every single message costs Coins, only the registration is free.
After the free and easy-to-handle registration, the new member will be redirected to the main area of the website. Already after a few minutes, we receive several messages, all of them from fictitious profiles trying to animate us to useless chats. To do so, we need to purchase coins. The free 80 Starting Coins are gone in a few minutes. The website admits that they have used fake profiles on the portal to enhance the entertainment experience. The company responsible for the scam calls them “system profiles”.
The excerpt from the terms and conditions
The company operates system profiles (i.e. profiles connected to Accounts that have been created by the company and which are either operated by contractors of the company who impersonate the persons portrayed in such profiles or by a system designed to interact with users) and expressly reserves the right to chat with users through such system profiles to enhance the users’ entertainment experience. Physical contact with individuals behind such system profiles is strictly prohibited.
The operator knew for rip-offs
The operator of i-HookedUp.com is well-known for his websites and the rip-offs with moderated chats and faked profiles. We have had some experience with him in the past. All reviews were a scam with the same cheeky trick. The company operates under the name Meet Us Media Ltd and is in Nicosia, Cyprus. During our internet research, we found some negative testimonies from former users. They all complain that the members’ pool is filled with fake profiles and that the moderators lure the members into senseless but expensive chats.
It goes without saying that there will never be a real date with one of the fictitious profiles. The operator even points out that physical contact with moderators behind such “system profiles” is strictly prohibited.
