At a first sight, the online dating website HotLocalMatures.com looks promising. The landing page offers some erotic content and promises much more once you register. We look a bit further and find out that other sites share the exact same landing page, but with a different name. We realize it is a fake chat rip-off.

The platform comprises fake profiles, operated by fake chat operators. They rip off new members by having them pay for a chat with people they will never meet in person. The company behind this site is Midsummer Online BV, headquartered in the Netherlands. It has several negative reviews from former users.

HotLocalMatures.com lures the user by offering free registration. As soon as we log in, we notice something familiar. The landing page is precisely the same as that of other platforms we have previously reviewed. The company simply changes the page’s name. This already makes us believe that HotLocalMatures.com is a rip-off, but we dig deeper and make sure of it.

The landing page shows some erotic content and photos of people we can only assume are already members. We check the terms and conditions and realize they in fact use fake profiles run by fake chat operators. This is a potential scam, so we decide to register and see what that is about.

Expensive credits

As soon as we register, we start receiving message notifications from people who want to chat with us. However, to answer them, we are asked to pay for what the website refers to a “credits. Credits must be purchased and used for every message we want to send out. This leads users to waste a conspicuous amount of money, which proves to be a scam.

The Terms and Conditions state that users will be able to spot fake profiles since they are marked with a small heart icon. This would be ok if it were not for the fact that the disclaimer is not clearly visible and often goes unnoticed. On top of that, there are several other heart icons with different meanings, and users can easily overlook those and start chatting with a fake profile.

These conversations lead nowhere, let alone a date. We find several negative reviews from former users claiming they were in fact having conversations with fake profiles handled by fake chat operators. The website is run by Midsummer Online BV, headquartered in the Netherlands. This company has negative reviews all over the place, and it is famous for managing other fake online dating websites.
