The landing page of GooseChat.co.za doesn’t provide a lot of information about the service it offers. The operator’s location suggests that it mostly targets people living in South Africa, but perhaps that is not the case. The lack of information makes the footnote stand out all the better. It says that the site contains fictive profiles for entertainment purposes only. Physical contact with these profiles is not possible. Our review will show that GooseChat.co.za is a fake chat service that rip-offs users and that it is not possible to experience genuine matchmaking here.

The site is run by a company that we have crossed numerous times in the past: Wakefield Web Activities BV, from Deventer, Netherlands. This company is known for hiring fake chat operators who create and manage fake profiles to get users to spend money on the site’s chat function. They operate dozens of other similar scam sites that should all be avoided.

The only useful information provided by GooseChat.co.za is that creating an account is free. Sadly, even that fact is partially true, as users will soon realize that they need to buy “credits” to chat with other members. To find further evidence of the scam, we created a free account to experience the site ourselves and read the terms of use, in which we found further proof that GooseChat.co.za is indeed a cheeky rip-off using fake chats.

Wakefield Web Activities BV, the operator of GooseChat.co.za, registered in Deventer, Netherlands, admitted in the legal information that fictitious profiles are used for the purpose of entertainment. Usually on fake dating sites entertainment is code for scam. It is often used to legally protect fake dating websites when they claim that fake profiles are for entertaining users. Furthermore, the company stated in the TOS that these fake profiles are marked with a heart-shaped icon. That means users must first read the TOS to understand what the icon means.

3.1. goosechat.co.za has the goal of allowing users to flirt. goosechat.co.za is the platform for users to chat with fictive profiles. The website, service and content are being provided for entertainment purposes only and are not intended to be used for establishing meetings with other users. Profiles marked with a heart icon are fictive profiles with which physical contact is not possible.

Fake profiles

As explained in the TOS, all the profiles in the members’ area are managed by subcontractors of the company to interact with users. While evaluating the site, we found that all the profiles were marked with a heart-shaped icon. Clearly, there is no chance of having a genuine date on this platform. Not only is it a waste of time, but is also a total waste of money.

The “coins” system

Everything the operator of GooseChat.co.za does is to lure users into their fake chat trap. First, the fake chat operators will try to seduce users by sending them enticing messages. If a user wanted to start a conversation, they would need to buy coin bundles beforehand. These virtual coins are used up quickly and for what? Users would be spending money to chat with fake profiles.

It was not difficult to find a large sum of online negative reviews from past users who testified to having a bad experience on this website. In fact, this company runs a large network of similar scam sites and should not be trusted.

As our reviews had shown, it is not possible to arrange a single date on GooseChat.co.za. The site offers no genuine experience whatsoever. It is nothing more than a fake chat rip-off using fake profiles and fake chat operators. Although the fake chat services were mentioned from the get-go, it would only be useful if users saw the mention. On the landing page, it is easy for users to miss that vital information. All in all, this platform is not to be trusted and should be avoided.
