Report for Ghoob.co.za review
Ghoob.co.za is an online dating platform for South African Muslims who are looking for a life partner. The website has been developed by a company which also calls itself Ghoob. In general, this website looks reliable, and does not seem to be a scam. However, it was hard to find any information at all about the operator, unless we signed up for a paid membership. In our experience, this is usually a major red flag. However, we have not managed to find any clear evidence of a rip-off.
For this review, we created a profile, and studied the Terms of Use. It was necessary to add a picture and add some details on our account, to even see the membership options. The member pool is not accessible at all with our free profile. The website is extremely discreet, almost to a fault. Usually, we dislike operators that are too secretive, but we wonder if this is a matter of preserving the users’ modesty.

Details on the Ghoob.co.za review
Ghoob.co.za is an online dating platform aimed at Muslim people from South Africa. The operator is too mysterious for our taste. The platform requires way too much trust from potential clients, and we are not sure if they have earned it. However, we cannot say this is a scam, either. The company behind this website uses the name Ghoob, just like the website. We suppose they are registered in South Africa, but we were unable to confirm that.
Valued discretion
A free profile is useless on this website. It does not allow you to browse the member pool at all. In fact, you cannot even see the pricing options, until you have spent some time filling out your profile. The platform requires a certain commitment from the users from the get-go. You cannot see anything at all about the profiles. However, we imagine this could be to protect the members’ modesty.
The privacy policy in the Terms of Use is very reasonable. Scam operators usually include abusive paragraphs, warning that your profile will be systematically copied onto other dating sites. There was none of that in this case. The portal comes across as safe and extremely discreet. We found no complaints online, either. On the other hand, there are Facebook groups, where genuine Ghoob members can apparently meet. Therefore, we do not think this is a fake chat.
Excerpt from the GTC (as of 26/07/2023)
GHOOB is not responsible if no contact is made.
No contact guarantee
We liked the premium membership because it is reasonably priced. It costs 199 South African rands, for three months, which is a little over 8 British pounds, at the time of writing this review. The Terms of Use do not mention anything about fictitious or copied profiles. This is probably not a fake chat.
In fact, the operator does not guarantee that any contact will be made at all. This is certainly not typical of phony companies. This made us much more comfortable with the website. We are still a little bit on the fence, but we doubt this is a rip-off.
The conclusion from our Ghoob.co.za review
Ghoob.co.za is a matchmaking service for South African Muslims. This platform is apparently managed by a company that shares its name with the portal, which is Ghoob. Our experience gave mixed results. We did not find any evidence of a scam, or any suspicious paragraphs in the Terms of Use. However, the portal is overly secretive in our opinion. A paid membership is the only way to see anything at all about the members. Furthermore, the subscription is reasonably priced.
