Report for DatingBuzz.co.za review

DatingBuzz.co.za is a dating website primarily directed towards people in South Africa. However, once you get access to the portal, the options are pretty much borderless. The platform was created by an operator called Dating Lab LTD, from Jersey, in the Channel Islands. This is not our first review about this company, and each time we concluded that their websites were a rip-off. This time, it seems to be more of the same.

It was the Terms and Conditions that gave away that something was off. For starters, there are some serious privacy concerns, which made us hesitant. Other than that, the company uses ambiguous language to explain that our profile will be visible across all their websites, in their scam network. Our own experience on the website was odd enough to make us reconsider if this was worth our time. The website requires a subscription to access the most interesting features. However, we cannot recommend trying it out, as this seems to be a fake chat.

Details on the DatingBuzz.co.za review

DatingBuzz.co.za looks like a dating website for people based in South Africa. For this review, we created a bare, temporary profile, and analysed the Terms and Conditions. When it comes down to it, it does not make any difference where you are located. The system will suggest matches from all over the world. The company Dating Lab LTD, from the Channel Islands, promotes the profiles on every website that they manage.

Ubiquitous profiles

At the end of the day, their websites share a phony member database, and nobody is present in the chat. At first, it was hard to pinpoint exactly what was wrong, but our gut was telling us to stay away. Our suspicions were confirmed by the vague language in the Terms of Use. The company shares all the profiles across websites, regardless of whether it is a niche website. The characters in the members’ area may have signed up on a website for Jehovah’s witnesses, South Africans, Muslims, or queer people, but they still show up everywhere.

This shared network system is pointless for the user, and definite proof of a fake chat rip-off. Another dodgy aspect regarding the chat is that the profiles seem dubious. The pictures may look real, but something was off. None of them had been thoroughly filled out, and they came across as impersonal. Having so much experience in this industry, it did not feel trustworthy.

Excerpt from the GTC (as of 26/07/2023)

The Company does not verify the accuracy or truth of any information published by Members. Be careful in dealing with other Members.

Member profiles from this site may also be visible (where applicable) on other network sites operated by the Company. This substantially increases the reach of your profile and the chances of finding a successful match.

If your profile becomes one of the most popular profiles on the site, then it may be randomly selected to appear on the Home page of the site as one of our “Featured Profiles”. These featured profiles may additionally appear on sites operated by selected media partners as part of their promotion of the dating site.

Protect your image

Dating Lab LTD reserves the right to share your profile on other websites too. Moreover, our profile may become one of their “Featured profiles” and end up on the landing site on a random niche dating platform. In theory, this is done to enhance your chances of meeting a match. But we find it problematic. It is a threat to the user’s privacy. Particularly if they are not informed that their face will be appearing on a dating site they may have never heard about.

The conclusion from our DatingBuzz.co.za review

DatingBuzz.co.za looks like a dating portal for people living in South Africa. It is managed by a dubious operator called Dating Lab LTD, from the Channel Islands. The website features a fake chat which baits the user to purchase a meaningless membership, which renews automatically. The profiles do not appear to be authentic, and it seems that this is a scam. This will hardly result in a satisfactory experience. We doubt you will ever find a real date on this platform.
