ConnectBlacks.me claims to be the perfect place to connect with black people around the world. To someone with our experience in the online dating industry, the landing page is full of alarming signs that warn us this could be a scam. First, potential users are expected to join without knowing anything about the platform. Nothing is said about what type of service is provided or relevant costs. It's easy to form the false impression that ConnectBlacks.me is a free website. Instead members have to purchase premium membership to communicate with other users.
Moreover, we experienced a lot of technical issues while registering. ConnectBlacks.me is not optimized to work on mobile devices, or at least not on the one we tried to use. To complete the registration process and check out the members’ area, we had to switch to our laptop. It looks as though this platform has been launched in a hurry without being properly tested. The quality of the service is clearly not important. Attracting more victims into the trap is evidently the only thing that matters.
Fake or real?
We took an in-depth look at the site’s terms and conditions to see whether our initial skepticism was justified. Even if ConnectBlacks.me doesn't mention professional moderators, there is still a partial admission that fake chat is used. The information states that users shouldn't expect to arrange real dates or find partners. This is the exact opposite to what is claimed on the initial page. In our experience, this means some at least of the profiles in the members’ area are fake.
Here is an excerpt from the terms and conditions
There is no guarantee that you will find a date, a companion or an activity partner, or that you will meet any of our members in person.
There is one more factor that leads us to believe this site is a fake chat rip-off. Right after signing up, we started receiving messages from attractive ladies wishing to chat with us. This sudden popularity is highly suspicious since our profile doesn't even contain a picture. To reply to these messages, we would have had to have signed up for a paid subscription. The chances are that all these accounts were fictitious and controlled by fake chat operators whose job is to lure members into spending money on the platform.
