ShagCupid.com advertises with a solid offer. The registration is for free, and the members seem to be very open-minded. We see some profile pictures on the landing page and could assume that they are real people and real members of this online dating website. But that is all wrong, and this platform is a cheeky rip-off.
This website is a fake chat. That means that in the member’s pool are fake profiles. Those fake profiles are created by the operator of the site and operated by fake operators. Here is the trick. After the registration, the fake operators will get in touch with a new member after a few minutes.
A fake profile is marked specially marked as such also phoney operator will not identify as a fictional person. Plus a member of this website does not know about the fake chat as the information on the landing page promise real people and real dates. That means that the operator advertises with wrong and misleading information.
The fake chat scam is in the terms and conditions
“5.2 ShagCupid.com has entertainment as its goal, and it is explicitly not the purpose of ShagCupid.com to establish dates or meetings in person.
5.3 Midsummer Online B.V. explicitly reserves the right to send calls on ShagCupid.com through self-created profiles. These are fictitious profiles with which no physical agreements are possible.”
A moderated dating website does not have to be a scam if the user knows about that. In this case, users get tricked by the operator and the fake operators with their fake profiles. The fake operators will entice the user to a chat. If a user wants to answer to those messages, so-called credits are needed. ShagCupid.com is not for free, and the website charges a high price for every message the user will send.
The website is operated by Midsummer Online B.V. which is in Deventer, in the Netherlands. The company runs a vast network of dating portals; all of them is a fake chat and not recommendable.
