Report for Irish-Mums.com review

Irish-Mums.com is advertised as a site where users can find real women for casual flings. The website is available for men and women above the age of 18 years. The platform offers free and premium membership. The latter is a subscription, which is paid periodically.

The website is owned and operated by Paidwings AG, from Switzerland. Our review of the platform showed it to be a subscription rip-off. The operator uses various ways to rip off users. For instance, Irish-Mums.com requires members to write a cancellation request. In our experience, this can be a hassle for some members. Subscriptions also renew automatically until cancelled. On this platform, the chances of forgetting to cancel a subscription are rather high for long-term premium memberships, such as the two-year plan.

Details on the Irish-Mums.com review

Irish-Mums.com is not a fake chat scam. There is no evidence of fictitious profiles being used. Nevertheless, our review of this Swiss platform found some issues that potential users should be concerned about. We found out that this website is a subscription rip-off. Paidwings AG uses various tricks to ensure members continue paying for their subscriptions.

A rip-off premium membership duration

When users register for a paid premium membership for the first time, they must sign up for the duration mentioned in the package details, or for a period of their choice. Therefore, if the user does not change the duration mentioned on the package, they agree to pay the subscription for the period provided. This initial term can last up to two years.

Excerpt from the GTC (as of 23/02/2024)

The term of a paid membership (Premium) corresponds to the period shown in the package description or the period selected by the user when ordering the package (initial term). The initial term is a maximum of two years. If the membership is not terminated at the end of the initial term, the contract shall be extended for an indefinite period (contract extension).

The period of notice, or, if a different period was stated when the paid access was purchased, for memberships with a term of no more than one month: 14 days, and for memberships with a term of more than one month: 30 days.

Subscription rip-off

If a user does not cancel their membership at the end of the initial term, the subscription renews automatically. This goes on indefinitely until the member remembers to cancel. In our experience, this is a common rip-off trick. It takes advantage of members who forget to cancel their subscriptions before renewal.

Long notice required

If a user wants to cancel subscriptions of one month or less, they must give notice 14 days before the end of the period. For subscriptions that run for more than a month, the member must notify the operator at least 30 days in advance. These long notice periods are another rip-off tactic to ensure members cannot cancel their subscriptions a few days, or hours, before renewal. This allows the operator to renew them for another term.

It is not easy to cancel a subscription

Users of this platform must provide a cancellation request in writing, when a cancellation would still be effective. In the request, they must provide their full name, the service used, and the email address used to register on the platform. They are then to email this information to the customer support. This process can be a hassle for some members and is meant to discourage such users from cancelling their subscriptions.

The conclusion from our Irish-Mums.com review

Irish-Mums.com is not a fake chat scam, but it is a subscription rip-off. This operator has designed the platform to take advantage of premium users. For example, first-time subscribers have the period of subscription filled out for them. So, they may end up with a longer subscription if they forget to enter their preferred one. All subscriptions also renew automatically, ensuring recurring charges for those who fail to cancel. Users must also notify the operator, in writing, about cancellation weeks in advance.
