Report for Hashtag-Cougar.com review

Hashtag-Cougar.com is a Spanish dating portal which seems perfect for anyone who desires an erotic encounter with a mature woman. The landing site shows a selection of “cougars”, who are ready for some action. A cougar is a slang term for a mature woman who actively seeks sexual relationships with significantly younger men. The images of these ladies are quite realistic, as opposed to the typical images of models that nobody would believe.

However, we soon noticed that this was another scam, developed by Salamandra Web SL, a company from Barcelona in Spain. We have written several negative reviews about them on our Spanish site. In our experience, they tend to crowd their dating websites with fake profiles, which they call “moderators”. These are proactive in contacting new users, who get conned into purchasing a VIP membership.

Details on the Hashtag-Cougar.com review

Hashtag-Cougar.com comes across as a dating platform for mature ladies and their young lovers, but most likely the visitors will end up greatly disappointed. It contains a fake chat, which is supposedly created to guarantee a certain service level. But in our experience, this is just an excuse that Salamandra Web SL uses to trick naive people. This dodgy company, from Barcelona in Spain, runs a network of online dating rip-offs. We have written several reviews about them, particularly on our Spanish website.

Shameless baiting

We set up a very simple profile and entered the members’ area for the first time. We were quickly overwhelmed by a ridiculous amount of interest from other users. Funnily enough, our profile was specifically created to go unnoticed. So, these women approaching us are simply baiting every new member, to get them to buy a VIP-membership. At first, we get to send a few messages for free. But soon, we are forced to become premium members if we want to continue the conversation.

This is the shameless trap that the operator uses to take advantage of the visitors. Nobody should access a membership solely based on interactions with fictitious profiles. Especially, when the user is unaware of what is going on. The problem is that the company is not straightforward about the fact that the people making contact are moderator profiles. Unless we read the legal disclaimer, which most people fail to do, one does not realize this. In theory, there could be real women in there. We have a hard time believing it, though.

Excerpt from the GTC (as of 26/07/2023)

The Company encourages Members to learn about the different features of the Service and tries to boost its Service to the best possible experience for the Member. As such, Members accept the deployment of moderation Service by sending instant message or email and sending photographs to Members to encourage broad participation of members in the Service as well as features or to improve Member security by detecting and fighting against malicious Members.

The Member declares to be informed that the photographs and profiles belonging to these persons do not relate to a real person but have been created by the Company for the reasons mentioned above.

The member acknowledges that the service is a dating and also an entertainment website. The user can accept that in certain cases the dialogues might be held with a profile created for entertainment purpose.

There is hope

As usual, the subscription entails automatic renewals if not cancelled within the deadline. However, according to the Terms and Conditions, after several failed attempts at charging for the membership, this will result in the termination of the subscription. This may be your way out of an unjust deal based on a scam.

The conclusion from our Hashtag-Cougar.com review

Hashtag-Cougar.com wants us to believe it is a dating portal where you can meet mature ladies for erotic encounters. Frankly, we doubt this could turn into a satisfactory experience for anybody. There are no genuine women here. There are only moderator profiles operating a fake chat. Since the operator is not clear about that, we can say that this is another rip-off by Spanish company Salamandra Web SL. The fantasy profiles reach out to new users, tricking them into buying a premium membership.
