Report for FindMates.net review

FindMates.net looks perfect at first sight, if you are looking for a meaningful relationship. They boast about being the best dating site in the world. The landing page looks modern and professional, featuring an image of a couple sitting on a bench in the park. However, we do not know anything about the operator. The Terms of Service are generic, and do not specify the name of the company either, which is typical of fraudulent companies.

This is a serious red flag, which invariably hints about a scam. We know this, after hundreds of reviews and years of experience, uncovering online dating frauds. A reliable company will always be transparent and easily reachable. Providing your payment data to an operator that hides who they are is, undoubtedly, a risky business. Either way, we set up a test account and performed a few tests on the platform. We also searched the internet to see if we could find out anything else about this mysterious company, and to see if it operates a rip-off.

Details on the FindMates.net review

FindMates.net is a phony dating platform where it is impossible to find out anything about the operator. It looks like they may be based in Florida, since the Terms and Conditions refer users to Florida law. Scam operators tend to hide such vital information, so we are not impressed. For this review, we created a simple profile, but it was not a very smooth process. The platform demanded answers to a few questions and the uploading of a profile picture.

Problematic data handling

We are not too thrilled about giving our data to a company we know nothing about. Furthermore, they own any content we may upload from the moment we create an account. For this reason, we were very uncomfortable when the platform started asking questions to complete the profile, and subsequently demanded that we upload a profile picture. We do not know who they are, how to contact them, or what they intend to do with our private information.

Usability issues

Furthermore, the result was far from what we expected. We had created a male heterosexual profile for this review, but it claimed we were looking for other males. This was not the information we had entered, and moreover, we could not change it either. This is a major usability issue because even if it was not the case here, users can make mistakes when signing up. At least it should be possible to change what kind of people we are looking for.

Another problem made this portal unreliable, according to our experience. We had not even had the chance to peruse the member pool, since our profile took a long time to be verified. However, there was already a counter signalling that we had “liked” three different profiles. This could not possibly be true, or even be a mistake on our part. For this reason, we suspect the platform hides a fake chat. They probably do this to encourage the visitor to buy “credits”, which are used to pay for exchanging messages. It looks like this is a scam.

The conclusion from our FindMates.net review

FindMates.net is a dating website which looks like it is still building a member pool. However, a few worrisome details point to a rip-off. We know nothing about the operator, although it looks like they may be based in Florida. We encountered several usability problems and a possible indication of a fake chat. There are too many unanswered questions, which make this website unreliable. We cannot recommend such a suspicious dating portal.
