Our first impression of TheSwingersGroup.com was positive. The landing page is professionally designed and the overall appearance is trustworthy and inviting. For our review, we decided to create a free account, and read the terms and conditions. Furthermore, we searched for user experiences on the web, and did some research on the site’s operator. From what we have gathered, the site does not live up to its good first impression. In fact, it turned out to be a fake chat scam, and a subscription rip-off.
Shortly after the free registration, we quickly received many chat messages from other members. However, we were not able to read them. Apparently, in order to read messages, you are required to upgrade to a paid VIP-membership. To us, it is highly suspicious that our incomplete profile gets so much attention in such a short time. Luckily, we found an explanation in the terms and conditions.
The following excerpt is from the terms and conditions
From time to time, the Company employees (or employees of its parent or affiliated companies) may create test dating profiles for the purpose of checking and testing the functionality of our Website and Service to improve the quality and user experience for its Users.
Fake profiles and chatbots
TheSwingersGroup.com claims that the so-called “test dating profiles” are created to improve the overall user experience. Obviously, they are merely being used to send computer-generated fake messages to new users, in order to lure them into the paid subscriptions. This cheeky trick seems to never get old. We call it a fake message scam.
To unlock the chat feature, a paid VIP-subscription is needed. However, these subscriptions are dangerous traps. They renew automatically and are extremely difficult to cancel. According to several customer reviews online, it is not possible to deactivate the automatic renewal, and the cancellation process is very complicated and cumbersome.
Waste of money and time
Altogether, we strongly advise you to refrain from signing up on TheSwingersGroup.com. Due to the fact that the members’ area is filled with self-created fake profiles, the chances of meeting real swingers here are extremely low. The site’s operator, VodFun Ltd from the Isle of Man, is responsible for several other untrustworthy dating websites, all of which use exactly the same tricks and strategies to rip-off their users.
